9:30 AM — Communion Service

Our Communion Service centers on God's ministry to His people through the preaching of His Word and the administration of the sacraments. Through Scripture, prayer, congregational singing, and the Lord's Supper, we are reminded of God's covenant promises and strengthened in our faith. Sermons in this service ordinarily proceed consecutively through books of the Bible.

**A Note About Communion**

We celebrate the Lord's Supper each Lord's Day. Communion is not a reward for those who have attained spiritual maturity, but a means by which Christ comforts and strengthens repentant sinners who trust in Him alone for salvation.

At the same time, because Scripture teaches that the Lord's Table is a holy and weighty ordinance, churches throughout Christian history have sought to lovingly guard participation in it. This historic practice is often called *"fencing the table."*

At Gig Harbor URC, we ordinarily invite to the Lord's Table those who:

- Have publicly professed faith in Jesus Christ before the elders of a church;
- Have received Christian baptism;
- Are active members in good standing of a Protestant, Bible-believing church; and
- Are seeking, by God's grace, to live in repentance and faith.

If you are visiting with us for the first time and would like to partake of the Lord's Supper, we kindly ask that you speak with one of our elders before the service. We would be delighted to meet you, hear your testimony of faith, answer any questions you may have, and help ensure that you can participate with a clear conscience and a joyful heart.

If you are not yet eligible to partake, please do not feel singled out. We are grateful that you are worshiping with us, and we would be honored to speak with you about the gospel, our practice of communion, or how to become a communicant member of Christ's church.

11:15 AM — Catechism Service

Our Catechism Service follows the historic practice of Reformed churches by focusing on the systematic teaching of the Christian faith. Sermons are ordinarily organized around the doctrines summarized in the Heidelberg Catechism and other Reformed confessions, helping believers understand the grand themes of Scripture and grow in their knowledge of God's Word.
